REGULATORY FUNCTIONS
  • Proposal and recommendation with regard to FRAMING OF VARIOUS POLICIES such as:
    • AMENDMENTS IN BUILDING BYE LAWS
    • NEED BASED CHANGES
    • PARKING POLICY
  • Officers of the Department are technical members of the Building Plan Approval Committees and advice the Chairman PAC's, on technical issues.
TOWN PLANNING WING
  • To prepare Inter-state Regional Plan for Chandigarh in coordination with the neighboring States of Punjab & Haryana for coordinated and planned regional growth
  • To prepare action plans for future development in view of the CMP-2031.
  • Preparation of detail sector plans, zoning plans & also preparing zoning plan for various govt. & private buildings.
  • Providing planning for new development schemes initiated by the administration such as I.T. Park, Education City, institutional area, various pockets as proposed in the Master Plan etc.
  • Preparation of integrated planning of rural area and balance development of the entire U.T. periphery
  • To support the concerned Department of Administration for Traffic and Transportation Policy.
SERVICE FUNCTIONS

Provide TECHNICAL ADVICES on all architectural planning issues & architectural advices to other Govt. Departments / Boards / Corporations as Deposit Work

  • Preparation of future LAND USE PLAN for orderly development of the city
  • Planning of RESERVE AREAS.
  • IDENTIFICATION OF SITES for various purposes.
  • Supply of information required by any citizen of India under RIGHT TO INFORMATION ACT.
  • Preparation of ARCHITECTURAL CONTROLS/STANDARD DESIGNS and ZONING PLANS governing the construction guidelines to all types of buildings i.e. Residential/Commercial/Industrial/Institutes etc.
ARCHITECTURE WING
  • Preparations of Building design for buildings of various Govt. Departments and coordinate the work between the executing agency and the Client Department
  • Provide technical advice on all architectural planning issues for various Boards and Corporations under Chandigarh Administration by the Chief Architect in his capacity as the Member of Board/Governing Body.
  • Provide architectural consultancy to Municipal Corporation and Undertake Deposit Works for various State Government, Centre Government and Public Sector Undertaking.
